Sephora Haul
I keep reminding myself that I don't need to buy anymore makeup but then I look on the Sephora site and see things that I've been eyeing for quite some time but just keep skipping on purchasing them...until now. I did purchase a couple of things that I have heard quite a lot of positive reviews for and one items was finally back in stock.
On a side note, I generally don't buy something without doing some research on it first. I tend to go to a couple of awesome and informative websites - mostly http://www.temptalia.com/ and http://www.makeupalley.com/. Temptalia's (a.k.a. Christine) site is very informative and initially tended to lean towards MAC products but now features products from all price points and ends of the retail spectrum. I find that when I'm at the MAC counter, I always check her site before I make my decision to purchase something. Her reviews are very descriptive, honest and most of the times, spot on. I won't make a decision without consulting her site first. Makeupalley.com site is another great site for reviews as well. You need to register for this site but it is free. I love this site because it features reviews by anyone who wants to write a review and the product list is endless. You can always find a couple of reviews on any product you may be interested in. Another good source for product reviews is on Youtube. There are dozens and dozens of great "beauty guru's" on Youtube that offer their reviews in their videos as well as featuring the products in their makeup tutorials. If you have some time, check them out!
Back to my Sephora haul - I have been wanting a certain blush from Tarte - Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Exposed but every store that I went to, as well as online, was out of stock. I did happen to sign up for an automatic notification when it was back in stock online and when I got the e-mail, I waited a few days but I eventually placed my order, along with a couple of other items. The Tarte Amazonian Blush in Exposed is described as "nude" but I find that it is more plummy with a slight hint of pink in it. The color is very natural looking and can be used as an everyday blush color. I find that this blush can be applied lightly with a stippling brush to go on a bit sheer but the color can be built up to appear like the color in the pan. I just love this blush for a no brainer/everyday go-to look without thinking about what cheek color to pair with eye makeup or lip color. I have also found that this blush looks best when it is the only product applied to your face. In other words, the blush looked like nothing when I applied my bronzer/contour color on my cheeks but when I only applied blush, the color looked amazing - like your perfect flushed color! The perfect blush for a busy mom!
The next thing I got was the Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Multi-Tasking Face Concealer in Bisque. This powder concealer can be used alone as a concealer or can be placed on top of your concealer to "set" it. I had heard about this from a review by Emilynoel83 on Youtube (a.k.a. Beautybroadcast.net). She swears by this product so I thought that I would give it a try.
I also love the Benefit Stay Don't Stray eye primer that "locks on concealer and eye shadow for all-day wear". I have been using it both on my lids as well as under my eyes to help my concealers stay in place. However, I have not heard great things about the applicator - the full size version has a pump that dispenses the product but it pumps out way too much product, which is so wasteful. I have a smaller size of this product that I received in a set and this version has a doe foot applicator which allows me to use only the amount that I need. So when I saw this set for $12 - I had to get it. Not to mention that not only did I get the primer but also a High Beam liquid highlighter as well as BADgal Lash mascara - which I have heard amazing things about.
I also had enough points in my Beauty Insider Bank to get the 500 point item which was this Lancome Best of Eye's set. This set comes with: Genefique Eye - youth activating eye concentrate; Color Design eyeshadow quad in Daylight, Off the Rack, Ciel du Soir and Sultry Mauve; Le Crayon Kohl in Black Ebony; Cils Booster XL - super enhancing mascara base; Hypnose Drama Instant Full Body Volume Mascara in Excessive Black; and Bi-Facil double-action eye makeup remover. I am excited to try out these products, especially the mascaras and kohl eyeliner.
I also got a sample size of the Smashbox BB Cream in Light. I have heard a lot about how great these BB Creams and am really excited to try this one out and I'll let you know my thoughts on it. I'll have a post about BB Creams coming soon - stay tuned.
Anyway, I just thought I would share a recent Sephora purchase with you. Maybe one of these products might interest you...Enjoy.
