December 2012 Favorites

Image
I can't believe that December and 2012 is already over!  Between finding the perfect gifts, decorating the house, baking cookies, getting ready for the twins' 6th birthday and all of my end of the year projects, December really flew right on by.  I'm not sure why but last month I went back to my makeup "basics"(i.e. my original makeup items). Here are my favorites for the month of December: 1.   Laura Mercier Mineral Foundation - I love the coverage and finish of this mineral foundation.  This is by far one of my favorites this year in the foundation category.  This foundation applies so effortlessly and just a little covers a lot!  I have to say that I really like the Laura Mercier mineral foundation over the Bare Minerals mineral foundation. 2.   MAC eyeshadows in Vanilla, Shroom, Naked Lunch, Jest, Charcoal Brown, Satin Taupe, Mystery, Wedge, Sketch and Twinks - These used to be my everyday MAC shadows - until I decided to branch out to ot...

Beauty on a Budget - Face Products

If you know me or follow my blog, then you know that I love me some makeup, especially the luxurious items that make you feel like a million bucks.  But the truth is that my love for makeup started in the drugstore.  I started out using CoverGirl foundation and concealers, Revlon lipsticks, Maybelline eyeshadows, etc.  As I became more infactuated with makeup, I learned that the good quality stuff was found at the department stores and higher end brands.  So off I went to the mall, and I started exploring the different brands and what they had to offer.  I found a few brands that I eventually depended on for my "makeup fix" (i.e. MAC, Urban Decay, Chanel).  And over the last 5-7 years, the R&D's of these "drugstore" brands have greatly improved and they now offer quality makeup that stands up to the higher end brands.  Not to mention that some of these "drugstore" brands are owned by the same conglomerates that own the hig...

Undereye Concealers - My current faves

Image
Ever since I had my twins (and now with my 15 month old), I have been on the hunt for the best, most miraculous undereye concealer.  I have some massive bags under my eyes along with the darkness that comes from a lack of sleep and/or interrupted sleep (that and the fact that I'm East Indian and apparently it is prevalent in East Indian's - GREAT!).  Anywho...I'm not sure when I'll get enough sleep to get rid of my undereye circles but until that happens, I will need to find an awesome undereye concealer to hide these puppies.  I have tried many, many different concealers from drugstore brands to high end, department store brands.  Some look ashy and cakey under my eyes, while some do conceal but by midday, it has migrated into my fine lines under my eyes and I have to touch it up throughout the day.  Here are the concealers I have tried so far: - MAC Select Moisturecover - it's ok; very  moisturizing, decent coverage - MAC Select...
