May 2012 Favorites

So yet another month has come and gone...time is flying.  The warm summer months are already here and it appears that spring just passed right on by.  After our family vacation to Disney, I sort of fell in love with the variety of natural looks I could create using just my cream eye shadows and Urban Decay Naked2 palette.  I have pretty much stuck to a few products each day and just played up or down certain features using most of the same products that I took with me on my trip.  Not to mention, when the weather is hot, you don't want to wear a ton of makeup - you want to look fresh and clean using minimal makeup.  Here are my favorite products for the month of May: 1.  Cream Eyeshadows - Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze, Makeup Forever Aqua Cream in #13, Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in R.S.V.P.    These stay-all-day cream shadows have been a lifesaver! You put them on your lid or all over from your lash line to ...

Beauty - Makeup Travel Bag

Image
Packing for trips are never fun - you want to pack everything but you can't.  I usually end up packing for way more days than I'm travelling because you just don't know when you might need to wear this or that, or need to wear a different type of shoe for day and night.  And the same goes for my makeup - you never know when you might want to wear a natural eye, or a smokey eye, or bold colors or...well, you get it.  So you end up packing more palettes than you need and more makeup products than you'll use.  Well, my family and I just came back from our 5 day vacation at Walt Disney World. We had a blast and the looks on the kids faces when they saw their favorite Disney characters were priceless.  Anywho...I knew while packing my makeup and hair supplies for our trip that we would be out and about for very long hours and that the weather would be 90 degrees plus.  So knowing this, I tried to pack minimally but pick products that are lo...

Sephora Haul

I keep reminding myself that I don't need to buy anymore makeup but then I look on the Sephora site and see things that I've been eyeing for quite some time but just keep skipping on purchasing them...until now. I did purchase a couple of things that I have heard quite a lot of positive reviews for and one items was finally back in stock. On a side note, I generally don't buy something without doing some research on it first.  I tend to go to a couple of awesome and informative websites - mostly http://www.temptalia.com/ and http://www.makeupalley.com/ .  Temptalia's (a.k.a. Christine) site is very informative and initially tended to lean towards MAC products but now features products from all price points and ends of the retail spectrum.  I find that when I'm at the MAC counter, I always check her site before I make my decision to purchase something.  Her reviews are very descriptive, honest and most of the times, spot on.  I won't make a decision ...

Undereye Concealers - My current faves

Image
Ever since I had my twins (and now with my 15 month old), I have been on the hunt for the best, most miraculous undereye concealer.  I have some massive bags under my eyes along with the darkness that comes from a lack of sleep and/or interrupted sleep (that and the fact that I'm East Indian and apparently it is prevalent in East Indian's - GREAT!).  Anywho...I'm not sure when I'll get enough sleep to get rid of my undereye circles but until that happens, I will need to find an awesome undereye concealer to hide these puppies.  I have tried many, many different concealers from drugstore brands to high end, department store brands.  Some look ashy and cakey under my eyes, while some do conceal but by midday, it has migrated into my fine lines under my eyes and I have to touch it up throughout the day.  Here are the concealers I have tried so far: - MAC Select Moisturecover - it's ok; very  moisturizing, decent coverage - MAC Select...

5 Minute Face - perfect for you busy moms!

I've said this before, as a busy mom, time is our enemy.  We barely have enough time to take a shower in the morning (or at some point in the day) let alone put on a face of makeup but let me tell you that taking an extra 5 minutes in the morning to put on your face will make all the difference in the world in how you make it through the day. There is nothing like looking in the mirror during the day and seeing your tired, blotchy, red face to remind you that you look a hot mess!!  But it doesn't have to be that way - Give me 5 minutes and I'll give you a more awake, fresh and brighter looking face - one that you'll like to see in the mirror over and over again. The first thing you need to do starts the night before - thoroughly cleanse your face (to get rid of all the daily accumulation) and then moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!!  I really like the Olay Regenerist line but use whatever facial moisturizer you...
