Product Review - Smashbox Shades of Fame Eyeshadow Palette

The one makeup item that I surely don't need anymore of are eye shadows!  I have so many eye shadows that I will never even get close to using them all up in this lifetime or perhaps even the next.  So I have reminded myself over and over again - 1) do NOT buy any new shadows, 2) you probably have that color or something close to it, and 3) you just don't need it!!  Well I lost that battle when I was recently in Ulta buying some makeup as a gift to a makeup newbie...and I stumbled upon this Smashbox Shades of Fame eyeshadow palette!  OMG I instantly fell in love with all of the colors in this palette.  But I told myself that I probably have these colors...but not all together in one palette!

This is a great palette to travel with, despite the fact that it doesn't have a black eyeshadow in it, this palette has all the colors you could possibly need to create both neutral, daytime looks as well as sultry, colorful looks for evening.  The shadows are soft and buttery in texture.  They all swatched easily with the exception of Nude and Sherbet - these were slightly chalky and required a bit more effort to get the right color payoff.  However, despite Nude swatching very chalky, it blends out colors wonderfully and with ease.  I have not had any problems using this color to blend out harsh lines or even to use as a crease color.  I have also been using Sherbet to blend out harsh lines and it adds a soft pop of color...loving this!!

My favorite color in this palette is the gorgeous teal color, Pacific.  I have been wearing this color on my lower lash line as a "pop" of color with my neutral daytime looks.  I love it!!  I actually have been using this palette everyday since I bought it about 2 weeks ago.  I love that this palette contains a light color (Bliss) that is perfect to highlight with as well as a matte light brown (Nude) to use in your crease or to blend out other crease colors with.  You can use the dark brown shade (Mocha) to create a dark smokey look in lieu of a black eyeshadow.  And I really enjoyed using the Bronze cream liner to line my upper lash line instead of my usual black.  This color is dark enough to line your lash line but yet soft enough so as not to create a harsh, stark line.  I will have to continue playing with the Gold liner....I love playing with my makeup!
This palette also came with a mini eyeshadow primer which is really nice.  This primer really does help your shadows stay put without creasing and helps the color from fading throughout the day.
A dual sided brush also came with this palette - one side is flat to use with the cream liners and the other side is fluffy to apply color and help blend them out.  I like this brush...I do prefer to use an angled liner brush to my lash line but the fluffy side is nice.

This is a great all over eye palette to create both neutral daytime looks as well as stepping it up a notch for the evenings.  This palette offers a little something for everyone....give this one a try and play with the colors this summer.  Enjoy...
