Product Review - Revlon Colorstay Foundation
I know that I'm soo late to the game with respects to this foundation but that's only because I have so many other foundations that I really didn't feel the need to buy or try this one out....until now. I had some CVS bucks that I needed to use and they had a Buy One Get One 50% off so I decided to try it out. And I'm so glad that I did!! This foundation is so amazing and and this price point - it's fricken amazing!!!
I have to say that this foundation is comparable to my high end foundations. I have been loving it so much that I have been wearing it every day since I bought it. The finish leaves my skin looking flawless and impeccable. I love that this foundation doesn't settle into any lines (my laugh lines in particular) and looks matte all day. I chose the formula designed for oily to combination skin and I really love that this foundation has different formulations for different skin types. And their color range seems to be endless with formulations in neutral tones, cool tones as well as warm tones. This foundation is medium to full coverage and can be built up (or sheared out) to your desired coverage. The consistency of this product is somewhat thick but a little goes a long way. I tend to dot this foundation on my cheeks, forehead, nose and chin and use a dampened Beauty Blender to apply this foundation. I like to set this foundation with either my Revlon Colorstay compact powder (and a large fluffy brush) or with Laura Mercier Loose powder.
The formulation of this foundation varies depending on what your skin type is but whatever your skin type is - they have a foundation for you. The one thing that I don't like is the packaging - this foundation doesn't have a pump to dispense the product so you have to use your fingers (clean of course). But I think that the thick consistency of the formula poses a problem with using a pump - so clean fingers it is! But I don't care that much about a pump, as long as the foundation does what it's supposed to do and looks good for most of the day - I'm ok with it. And as for the claim that it lasts for 24 hours - well I don't know about that since I don't tend to wear my makeup for more than 12-14 hours but it sure does last for the time period that I wear it for. My face looked quite matte more than half way through the day and required at most just a "pat" of powder on my nose and forehead to blot some of the minor shininess. I love how the foundation makes my skin look flawless and matte at the end of a day!
This is definitely a foundation worth trying - and the best part is 1) you can find it in the drug store, 2) it is affordable and bonus, you can often find a Revlon coupon in the Sunday paper, and 3) there is a color and formulation for every skin type and for everyone! I would highly recommend this foundation to anyone looking for a long wearing, mattifying, medium to full coverage foundation. Enjoy...
