Product Review - YSL Dessin Du Regard Eyeliner

DESSIN DU REGARD WATERPROOF - Long-Lasting Waterproof Eye Pencil (Sephora, $28.00)

I am always on the hunt for a great waterproof eyeliner to wear in my waterline especially because I have very watery eyes and most eyeliners never stay put (even if they are waterproof).  Now ordinarily, I would never pay $28 for an eyeliner but since I had read sooo many great reviews on this one and how long lasting it was on the waterline, I had to try it out for myself!  Not to mention that I did wait to get this during a Sephora Friends and Family sale so I didn't quite pay full price for it.  I ended up ordering this in 02 Patent Leather (deep brown) and not black because black was sold out at Sephora both online and in the store.  But the brown is very dark and looks like a blackened brown which I really do like.

Well...the results are in and bleh - it's nothing to write home about!  I'm sorry but maybe I just have extremely watery eyes but this eyeliner did not last more than 2 hours on my waterline.  I had such high hopes for this liner because it's YSL and because of the numerous rave reviews...but it just didn't live up to it's hype for me.  However, I will continue to use it considering how much I paid for it.  I still do love the look of this very dark brown liner on the waterline - it's not as harsh as black is on the waterline (even though I use black in my waterline most of the time).  The color payoff is good and it is very dark and rich in color.  The formula is very creamy and easy to apply to the waterline - it doesn't tug and it only takes one or two swipes to get great color payoff.  However, maybe because of my watery eyes, it did not last long on my waterline and it is most definitely not waterproof on me!  But that's not to say it isn't waterproof on others. It is also very smudgeable so if you wanted to create a soft, smokey eye - you can line your top and bottom lash lines with this liner and easily smudge it out (then of course top it with a dark brown shadow to lock the liner in place).  An easy and beautiful look for both daytime and nighttime.

Overall, I will continue to use this liner but with the knowledge that I will have to carry it with me so I can reapply it every couple of hours since it doesn't last long on my waterline but I wouldn't repurchase this liner.  I don't think I would strongly recommend this to others although your waterline may hold onto the liner better than my waterline so I might suggest that you try it out for yourself if you really want to try this YSL eyeliner.  And so my hunt for a true waterproof eyeliner continues...

I hope that you found this review helpful.  Enjoy...
