OK, now I know that it's been a very, very long time since I've posted anything beauty related but quite honestly, I haven't really purchased anything new and I've just been using up what I have.  Actually, that was one of my 2013 New Years resolution - 1) to not buy anymore makeup and 2) to use up the products that I already have.  After taking inventory of my makeup collection, I noticed that I purchased a lot, and I mean A LOT of makeup products in 2012.  And I came to the realization that I really need to use up what I have before I buy any more.  Ok I did buy a couple of new things;)  So anyway, sorry for the lack of beauty related articles.

"Simple and Easy" has been my make-up motto for the past couple of months!  I haven't been in the mood for complicated and fussy make-up so I have resorted to finding products that are multi-purpose and pack a big punch.   I have really liked the effect of using a concealer (specifically the Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer) under my eye and blending it out onto my cheeks/nose (or wherever I have some redness) and using it in the place of a full face of foundation.  I then set it with my MAC MSF (which is a mineral foundation anyway) to add extra coverage as well as setting the concealer.  I then dust my face with my Bare Minerals Warmth or bronzer for some all over face color, and finally set everything with some BM Mineral Veil and BAM - done with my face!

For eyes, I've been using cream shadows/paint pots/shadow sticks to place all over the lids.  I add a dark shadow (i.e. Nars Mekong) to my lash line as my liner.  Line my water lines with either a black or brown kohl liner and add several coats of my favorite mascaras and I'm done.  Oh and don't forget the brows - I have been reaching for my Anastasia Brow Kit and just quickly filling in my brows with the light and dark shadows and setting them with a clear brow gel to set them in place all day.

A few of my favorite products these past few months have been:
Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer, Rimmel Scandaleyes Black Kohl Liner, Too Faced LashGasm Mascara, MAC MSF Natural, MAC MSF Soft and Gentle
I absolutely have fallen in love with the Too Faced LashGasm mascara - OMG does this make your lashes look like you have a full pair of false lashes on!!  The wand reminds me of the Loreal Telescopic mascara but the Too Faced LashGasm formula doesn't make my lashes clump up like the Loreal Telescopic mascara.  Love this...I have a back up in my shopping basket at Sephora (just waiting to hit the order button).

I also purchased the Rimmel ScandalEyes Black Kohl liner.  Love the creamy formula of this eyeliner as well as the inky black pigmentation.  This liner stays for a good 4-6 hours on my waterline which is good for my watery eyes! I'm very happy with this drugstore liner.

I also finally caved an picked up the MAC Mineralized Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle (a long time cult favorite of make-up gurus in the beauty world) and now I know what all the hype was about.  This is a gorgeous highlighter that adds such a gorgeous halo of color to your face.  You can also use this as an eyeshadow or to add a bit of highlight to the center of your lips on top your lipstick.  I love when I can use a product for multiple things.

I did purchase the NARS And God Created The Woman eyeshadow set earlier this year and I have been loving all of the colors in this set.  Matter of fact, this was the only eyeshadow set I took on a recent vacation and I was able to create both natural day time looks as well as sultry nighttime looks. And what's not to love about Nars products?  The shadows are buttery and soft and highly pigmented!  Well worth the money for this set (which also comes with a shadow primer and eye shadow brush).  You can still pick this set up online on the Sephora site.

Again, sorry it has taken me so long to write a beauty post but I'll try to be better and post more beauty stuff.  After all, we busy mom's still need to look good whilst being awesome mom's!  Until my next beauty post...
