October 2012 Favorites

October was such a busy month for me - planning 2 birthday parties (my father's surprise 70th and my son's 2nd birthday), my husband was out on business for 3 weeks, getting the kiddos ready for Halloween, Halloween parties at school...October truly flew on by.  But the leaves are falling and the air is getting crisper - Fall is finally here! As the seasons change, so do my skin needs and makeup routine. Here are my favorites for the moth of October:

For makeup - I am loving the Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation.  This foundation is just as great as the original fluid Colorstay foundation.  The pigmentation is great - a little goes a long way.  I have found that the best way to apply this foundation is not with a brush or damp beauty blender, but rather with your fingers.  Somehow I don't know if it's the warmth of your fingers or what, but using your fingers to apply and blend out the foundation leaves a flawless finish just like using a brush or beauty blender.  I also love that this foundation seems to adjust to the needs of your skin.  I find that I don't need to touch up throughout the day with my blot powder like I used to do.  I think I'll be loving this foundation for the fall and into the winter.

I find that I keep reaching for my Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette daily - either for my entire eye look or to use or or two shadows (or more) for my look.  This is probably my most favorite eyeshadow palette ever...even better than the original Naked Palette.  I mean look at these gorgeous colors - I can see this one making my 2012 favorites list!

And speaking of UD - I recently purchased the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion.  This is a great dark, inky matte black liner and it's supposed to be waterproof but unfortunately on my watery eyes, the color doesn't last longer than about 4 hours but I still do love how dark and pigmented this liner is. I find that I have to set this liner with a black gel liner in order to get that staying power on my waterlines.  This one rivals my favorite MAC Feline Kohl pencil liner - both are so very dark and pigmented.

On my nails, even though I don't tend to sport polish on my fingernails, I have been loving the Sephora by OPI nail polish in Chamomile-Ion To One.  This color is described as sheer pink beige with fine gold glitter.  This polish is very natural but pretty looking on my nails - Perfect for me since I hate the sight of chipped nail polish which forces me to take off my polish instantly.  I like this one for everyday and the holidays.

For my hair, I just got my last installment of the Wen Haircare system from QVC.  This season's "scent" is Fall Ginger Pumpkin.  OMG if I could eat this I would!  This smells like warm pumpkin bread baking in the oven.  I love this time of the year just for the pumpkin - and now I can have it in my hair.  I have said this before but I am a Wen Girl!  I love what the Wen cleansing conditioner does to my hair - how healthy it looks; how it reduces the frizz; how soft and luscious my curls look!  Love this stuff!!

For lips, there are 2 Revlon lip glosses that I have been loving and both are in the plum family.  The first is a Colorstay Ultimate Liquid Lipcolor in Vigorous Violet and the other is the Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Lilac Pastelle.   The first is a darker plum shade while the second is a milky lilac color.  I love wearing plums during the fall and winter...I actually have loved mixing the two of these together wearing the darker shade on the outside of my lips while placing the lighter shade in the middle to add some "oomph" to my lips - kind of "ombre-esque".

  1. I also like Revlon Colorstay Foundation. There have been so many improvements in eye, lip, facial, nails, hand and hair cosemetics, there is not any reason we women should and could not look our best.
