Today is my twins' 5th birthday!!

I cant believe how fast time flies but today is my twins' 5th birthday!  Where did the time go?  I feel like my babies are growing up so fast and there are so many things that I want them to experience before they get too big to appreciate it.  I decided to start a blog on this milestone so I can document as many memories and experiences as I can as well as share my life experiences with you as a busy mom of 3 and as a working professional.

I remember bringing home Shaan and Ishani and thinking "how am I supposed to take care of these little beings?"  After all, Shaan was only 3lbs 15oz and Ishani was 4lb when we were discharged from the hospital.  I swear the twins lived in preemie clothes for the first 4 months of their life! But we tried to enjoy every moment we could - well, I cant actually remember since I was in a sleep induced haze but from the pictures I have, it looked like we enjoyed each moment.

The twins always lagged in growth but they followed their own growth curve (which is all that mattered according to our Pediatrician).  It wasn't until the last 6 months that they were wearing clothing sizes smaller than what they were.  Shaan has had a major growth spurt and is now wearing 5T pants and shirts, whereas Ishani is miss skinny mini and wears 4T-5T pants but 4T tops (she is so skinny that she swims in most tops).  But I am pleased with their growth.  Jai, our 14 month old, on the other hand is our piggy.  He eats all of the time, well actually all 3 eat all of the time, but Jai is the only one who is outgrowing his clothes faster than we can get them on him.  He is already wearing is 18 month clothes.  It seems wierd to me to have a child wearing normal size clothing for their age - but then again, Jai was a singleton and born an average weight for a baby (for me) - 6lbs 1oz.

I have treasured each and every moment of my twins growth since the day that I had them.  5 years ago, my status of "Shilpa" changed to "Mom" and I'm loving every second of it.  It is a blessing to have a child, let alone twins, and I am so blessed and thankful for my Shaan and Ishani (and now Jai).  I do feel a bit guilty not being able to remember a lot of the twins' firsts - words, teeth, crawling and walking status, especially since I didn't record it.  I had every intention of recording these and other milestones, but by the time I wanted to jot it down in my journal, I got distracted or just forgot and the moment passed.  And now, I cant remember!  But oh well, such is life!!
Anyway, I just wanted to start this blog to discuss all things mommy related - kids, work, parenting, cooking, shopping, beauty - you name it!  And as a Registered Dietitian, I have a lot of helpful nutritional/health information as well as fitness tips that can help you live a healthier life.  No one knows more than a working mom of 3 young children how crazy life can be and through my own trials and errors, I have a lot of valuable tips and tricks to help other busy moms like myself.  I hope that you find my posts helpful and if you have any good tips and tricks, please feel free to share them with me - I am always looking for great ideas to make my life easier!

Once again, Happy 5th Birthday to my precious angels - Shaan & Ishani.
